Why are more and more high-end resort projects abandoning traditional hotels?

Compartir:
In recent years, a significant change has been occurring in the cultural tourism industry: more and more new projects are shifting away from traditional architecture and towards tent-style accommodations.

Initially, this was seen as a "style upgrade," but as the number of projects continues to increase, this shift has gradually become an industry trend. From the tea plantations of Yunnan to the deserts of Ningxia, from the bamboo forests of Zhejiang to the grasslands of Xinjiang, tent campsites are rapidly conquering stunning locations that traditional hotels struggle to access.

Globally, the campsite market has maintained steady growth over the past few years, especially in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and western China, where tent campsites are rapidly taking root. Behind this lies a shift in industry logic.

The core problems of traditional hotels are long development cycles, heavy investment, and difficulty in adjustment. A five-star hotel typically takes three to five years from land acquisition to opening, with investments often reaching hundreds of millions of yuan. Once built, it's almost impossible to iterate quickly. If market trends change or the location is misjudged, the cost of adjustment is extremely high. Tent projects, on the other hand, offer a more efficient solution—faster setup, lower trial-and-error costs, and greater flexibility in adjustment. A tent campsite can be planned and opened in just a few months, with a more controllable investment scale and the ability to quickly adjust the product mix based on market feedback.

However, many people overlook one crucial point: not all tents can support this level of efficiency.

A truly mature tent project is backed by a complete manufacturing system. This includes factors such as the availability of large-scale factories, standardized production processes, and consistent processing precision. While tents may seem simple, they actually require precise coordination across multiple components, including steel structures, membrane materials, and connection systems. Problems in any of these components will affect overall performance and lifespan.

For example, leading suppliers like Xingtu Tents, with its 25,000-square-meter factory, use CNC equipment for meticulous structural processing, down to the smallest connection hole, ensuring each tent possesses the precision and stability of an industrial product. This precision not only affects installation efficiency but also directly impacts long-term stability. A deviation in a single connection hole can lead to uneven stress on the entire frame, creating safety hazards in extreme weather conditions.

This is why the industry is gradually shifting from "any tent will do" to "tents must be professional." Brands that are repeatedly adopted in multiple demanding projects essentially do so because their production capabilities and structural stability have become systematized, providing the most fundamental guarantee for the long-term operation of projects. Investors are also increasingly realizing that tents are not simply fabric products, but complex architectural systems.

A seemingly simple tent is actually a highly engineered product. It needs to meet architectural-grade physical performance requirements while ensuring aesthetics. From the wall thickness of the aluminum alloy frame to the tensile strength of the membrane material, and the design of the sealing system, every parameter relates to the final user experience.

In actual projects, this difference becomes increasingly apparent. Some campsites require frequent maintenance after a period of operation—repairing leaks, replacing zippers, patching tears—leaking the operations team from head to toe. Others, however, can operate stably for a long time with almost no additional maintenance; the key lies in choosing a mature product system from the outset. This difference becomes even more pronounced after three to five years, directly impacting the project's profitability and return on investment.

In the long run, competition in tent hotels will no longer be about "who can set it up quickly," but rather "who can be more stable." Tents that remain sturdy in extreme weather and maintain their pristine condition over long-term use are truly competitive products.

What truly determines stability is never appearance, but rather the unseen manufacturing capabilities and structural details. This is why more and more experienced investors consider factory visits an essential part of their project decision-making process.
